The day March 09, 2022 will reopen the Fortuny Palace one of the most famous palaces of Venice where Mariano Fortuny Y Madrazo lived, with a facade towards the Rio di Ca ‘Michiel and with a’ other facade more extensive, and among the most complex of the Venetian Gothic, on the field of San Beneto, will be open all year round with a permanent path and as a venue for temporary exhibitions dedicated to contemporary. After two years of conservation work it is returned to the city, with rooms dedicated to the memory of Mariano Fortuny and his brilliant and talented life. The Museum has been characterized over the years as a center of exhibition activities dedicated to the visual arts. On the second floor, precious silk and cotton velvet fabrics cover the walls. The space houses a rich collection of works that testify to the various fields in which Fortuny ventured: such as painting with a collection that includes about 150 paintings by Mariano Fortuny, related to the various moments and different inspirations of his pictorial path. Light with collections that include many original examples of lighting fixtures, among which are the extraordinary chandeliers and lamps. Photography where the collection goes from 1850 until the Second World War and is presented as a rich palimpsest of styles, techniques and historical suggestions. Textiles The Fortuny Museum’s collection of clothing, fabrics, matrices and proofs, cloths, ornamental drapes, form a rich sample collection that identifies this extraordinary textile and fashion production. The inauguration will be an opportunity to present the Panza di Biumo collection of works of international art from the 20th century, on public display for the first time.
